Cloud & data platforms

Infrastructure you can entrust to one partner, from build through operations

Cloud & data platforms overview

Only a few people understand how your servers are configured. Your cloud bill keeps growing, and no one can say why. Data is scattered across department files, and every report means matching it up by hand. Infrastructure and data problems tend to stay out of sight — until one day they all surface at once.

RG builds infrastructure on Google Cloud, AWS, and other clouds, and migrates systems from on-premises servers. We handle it end to end: containerization, configuration management, monitoring and incident response, and the ETL and data platforms that collect and shape your data.

For a marketing technology company's data platform, we have handled ETL development and operations since 2022. We also run our own products ourselves, so we design with the day-to-day operations that follow the build in mind.

Sound familiar?

  • Only a few people know how your servers are set up, and no one can touch them when those people are away
  • Your in-house servers are aging. You'd like to move to the cloud but don't know where to start
  • Your cloud bill keeps rising, but you can't see where the money is going
  • Every release is deployed to the servers by hand, and you worry each time about getting a step wrong
  • When something breaks, you only find out when a user tells you
  • Sales and customer data are split across several systems and matched up by hand for every report

/ Services

What we offer

01

Cloud infrastructure design and build

We design and build the infrastructure that runs your web services and business systems on Google Cloud, AWS, or another cloud. We choose the services and architecture by balancing the performance you need against cost.

02

Migration from on-premises

We investigate systems running on servers in your office or data center and plan the steps to move them to the cloud. We set the migration order and cutover schedule and proceed while limiting the impact on your operations. If something is better left where it is, we'll explain why.

03

Containerization, configuration management, and deployment automation

We package applications into containers so they run the same way in any environment. Server configuration is managed as code, so the same environment can be rebuilt at any time. We automate everything from testing to production deployment, preventing configuration slips caused by manual work.

04

Monitoring, incident response, and operations

We set up monitoring that checks whether your services are running and alerts that notify you in chat and other channels when something goes wrong. Investigating and recovering from incidents and regular update work are covered under a monthly maintenance and operations contract.

05

Cloud cost review

We look at your bill and how resources are actually used, and check for unused resources or setups larger than necessary. Then we propose changes that keep performance and stability in balance.

06

Data consolidation, ETL, and data platforms

We build ETL pipelines that collect data spread across multiple systems and external services and bring it together in a consistent format. To make the collected data usable for analysis and daily operations, we start with the database design.

/ Why RG

Why work with RG

01

The person who designs it stays on through operations

The person who takes your inquiry handles design and build, and stays on to take over operations. Because the person who knows the reasoning behind the architecture also responds to incidents, less time is lost re-investigating from scratch.

02

We design the architecture around how your business uses data

Which data does who need, and by when? Before deciding on the architecture, we map your workflow and how data is used. We don't build bigger than necessary; we choose a setup that's worth what it costs.

03

We've run what we build ourselves

We have run our own products, such as Rally and Flux, ourselves — from building the production environment to updates, monitoring, and incident response. We also set up an in-house environment for running language models ourselves. We bring that day-to-day operational experience to the design of your infrastructure.

04

We work in Japanese, English, and Korean

Technical documentation in English, discussions with cloud providers, and coordination with overseas development teams can all move forward without an interpreter. We can also help you sort out how to handle data involving overseas offices or partners.

/ Process

How we work

  1. STEP 01

    Consultation

We ask about your current setup, what's causing trouble, and your costs. It's fine if you don't have documentation ready. Consultations and estimates are free.

  2. STEP 02

    Current-state assessment & planning

We examine your server and cloud settings and how data flows, and document the current state in diagrams and writing. We then decide the scope of the build or migration, the order of work, and the cutover method, and provide an estimate.

  3. STEP 03

    Build & migration

We define the architecture as code and verify it in a test environment before building production. For migrations, we prepare both the cutover steps and the rollback steps before we start.

  4. STEP 04

    Handover

We leave architecture diagrams and operations runbooks, so your team can understand the setup when we hand it over. If you will run it in-house, we also walk you through the procedures.

  5. STEP 05

    Operations

If you wish, we continue handling monitoring, incident response, updates, and cost reviews under a monthly maintenance and operations contract.

/ FAQ

FAQ

We don't know how our servers are configured.

We start by investigating the current state. We review your server and cloud settings and the programs running on them, and document the architecture in diagrams and writing. Then we decide together what needs fixing and in what order.

We're not sure whether to move from on-premises to the cloud.

You can consult us on the decision itself. We compare cost, operational effort, and the impact on your business, and if something is better left where it is, we'll explain why. Moving only some systems first is also an option.

Can you review our architecture on the cloud we already use?

Yes, we also do reviews based on your current environment. We have build experience on Google Cloud, AWS, and other clouds, and we don't assume you need to switch to a different cloud. Start by telling us about your current setup.

Can you lower our cloud costs?

We first check your bill and how resources are used, and look for unused resources or setups larger than necessary. How much can be saved depends on the environment, so we explain our proposed changes based on what we find.

Can we hire you only to operate infrastructure another company built?

After reviewing the current state, we propose the scope we can take on. If no documentation remains, we start by investigating the architecture and documenting it.

How do you respond when an incident occurs?

What we monitor, how we contact you, and the scope of our response are agreed in advance as part of the monthly contract. After recovery, we investigate the cause and propose changes to prevent the same incident from recurring.

Our data is scattered across department files and multiple systems.

We ask which data you want to use and for what, then define what to collect and the rules for making formats consistent. We then set up ETL pipelines that automatically collect and shape the data, and a database you can use for analysis and daily operations.

We have no one in-house who can look after our infrastructure.

We leave architecture diagrams and runbooks so the setup is easy to check later. We can take on operations on a monthly basis, or support only your design decisions as a technical advisor. Talk to us about what fits your team.
